Either way, it’s a great time to attend one of our upcoming First-Time Homebuyer Courses. These two online webinars are offered through a partnership between Harborlight Community Partners
and the North Shore Association of Realtors
— and are sponsored by North Shore Bank. Geared specifically to first-time homebuyers, these comprehensive, interactive courses, are taught by industry experts, including members of North Shore Bank’s experienced mortgage team. It should also be noted, that these courses have received the CHAPA Homeownership Collaborative Seal of Approval (Citizen’s Housing and Planning Association).
Regardless of which session you choose, topics will include:
- How to know when you’re ready to buy
- Understanding your credit
- Choosing the right home and negotiating the contract
- Why home inspections are important
- Navigating the mortgage application and approval process
- Long-term success as a homeowner

All graduates of the courses will be awarded a certificate of completion, allowing access to MassHousing Partnership’s ONE mortgages, MassHousing mortgages, HUD mortgages, home ownership lotteries, lender first-time homebuyer mortgages, and a variety of other mortgages through assisted and conventional lending sources. The certificate is accepted statewide for first-time home buyer education.
Classes will be held as live Zoom webinars. A webcam, microphone, and speakers are required to take this class, which includes a manual which will be mailed to attendess prior to the session. There is a $45 fee per person, or a $75 fee per household (which includes two individuals).
Please note that class participants are under no obligation to use the homebuyer counselors or any guest speakers for their services.
