How to Report an Unemployment Benefits Scams

In recent weeks, our Customer Support Center has received an increase in calls concerning unemployment-related scams. These scams typically involve imposters filing for unemployment benefits using the names and personal information of individuals who have not filed claims.

If you have been victim of this type of scheme, please refer to our July 31st post on the subject  — which provided more information and detailed the steps that you should take to report the incident. It is also recommended that you visit identitytheft.gov. There you will be able to create a personalized plan that will help guide you through the reporting and recovery process. Once on the Identity Theft homepage, just click the green bar at the top of the screen entitled "Unemployment Benefits Identity Theft" to get started.
