PEABODY, MASSACHUSETTS (www.northshore-bank.com) – The committee for the Peabody International Festival received a $10,000 contribution from North Shore Bank for their Title Sponsorship of this year’s event. Presenting the check to Peabody Mayor Edward A. Bettencourt, Jr. was North Shore Bank’s Chief Executive Officer Kevin M. Tierney, Sr. This donation from North Shore Bank will be used to help offset the costs associated with the festival, which will be held on Sunday, September 11th.

The International Festival is the largest festival of its kind and has been the signature event in Peabody for over 35 years. Dozens of civic organizations, nonprofits, local businesses, cultural groups, crafters and artisans line Downtown Peabody with delicious food and artwork inspired from places all around the world.

Tierney said of the festival and the Bank’s sponsorship:

This event celebrates the great history of the city and the many cultures that make up the community.” He added, “We commend the city and the festival committee for their hard work in pulling this event together, and we’re proud to be a part of it.

Mayor Bettencourt said of the Bank’s contribution:

The International Festival is our city's signature community event which attracts tens of thousands of people to Main Street and downtown Peabody. North Shore Bank’s generous sponsorship helps make it all possible and we are extremely grateful for their support.

Mayor Peter Torigian founded the International Festival in 1984 with the simple goal of giving neighbors the opportunity to meet, while celebrating and appreciating each other’s culture. The festival continues to attract between 50,000 and 80,000 people to Peabody Square each September. Popular bands and performance groups entertain the crowd, and in addition to the all-day live entertainment the festival has an area dedicated to children, an Artisan Market and Galleria, and a beer garden.
