Representatives from North Shore Bank recently visited Girls Inc of Lynn to present them with a $1,000 contribution raised through the bank's Jeans Day Program. The mission of the organization is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Since 1942, they have responded to the changing needs of girls and their families by providing essential resources and challenging programs to disadvantaged, low-income girls. Serving over a thousand girls every year, the children and young adults in their program live healthy and active lifestyles and are less likely to engage in risky behavior; they are eager to learn, successful in school, and more likely to graduate from post-secondary education; and they display diligence, perseverance and resilience.
Thank you to the Team at North Shore Bank. This generous Jeans Day donation will allow us to purchase books and materials for our Literacy Program. The Literacy Program is a cornerstone in Girls Inc. School-Age-Child Care Program-we know that if children have not achieved benchmark reading skills by the fourth grade, they are at increased risk of not graduating from high school. We are grateful to North Shore Bank for their continued support and partnership.
