North Shore Bank employees recognize that local libraries are still the backbone of communities around the country. For children with larger-than-life imaginations, retirees finding more time on their hands, and community organizations in need of a place to hold their meetings, the local library is an invaluable resource. That's why the Bank employees chose the Gale Library in Newton, NH as a Jeans Day recipient, and were able to raise $1,000 for them.
"We are so grateful to North Shore Bank and its employees for their support of the Gale Library. With this generous donation of $1000, we can expand the programs and services that we offer for the community, both in-person and at-home. Thank you, North Shore Bank employees, for your Jeans Day donations!"
- Michelle Baker, Gale Library Director
Founded in 1892, the Gale Library is the public library for the Town of Newton, NH. Originally, the library was set up in the Town Hall. In 1908, the library was moved to an antique one-room schoolhouse known as the "Marion Hatch Building". Since 1978, the library has occupied its present site, a former elementary school building. A capital reserve fund was started in 1982 to save and plan for future alterations to the library building. For more information on the Gale Library, visit www.newton-nh.gov/gale-library.
