Abington Bank donates $25,000 to Father Bill’s & MainSpring’s new housing project

Abington Bank recently announced a $25,000 donation to Father Bill’s & MainSpring (FBMS) to support a new model of shelter, housing, and services for individuals at-risk of or struggling with homelessness in the region.

This new housing project features a multi-use facility on Manley Street in Brockton with an array of 24-hour services. The new facility, named the Housing Resource Center, includes a commercial kitchen and dining space, showers, laundry, access to technology and a library, private meeting spaces, a full-service medical clinic, dormitories accommodating 128 shelter beds, and more. In addition to this space, a second building adjacent to the center will include 32 units of permanent supportive housing for individuals.

Abington Bank President and CEO Andrew J. Raczka said funding projects like this align with the bank’s longstanding commitment to helping households in our communities meet their basic needs through their charitable giving program, The Giving Tree. And, he added, it’s an extension of the legacy to address homelessness that was started by the former Envision Bank, which merged into Abington Bank in 2022. Envision Bank had partnered with FBMS to develop the Envision Bank Home for Veterans in Randolph, a 10-unit affordable housing project for local veterans that opened in 2020. The bank’s foundation had committed a half-million dollars to the project and donated a portion of the bank’s Randolph branch parking lot for the site. Today, the Abington Bank Randolph office staff remain connected to the home’s residents, providing financial resources and guidance as well as giving generously of their time and talents to fundraise and offer support.
