Abington Bank, a division of North Shore Bank, Donates $39,000 to Local Food Pantries

Abington, Massachusetts — January 8, 2025

Kevin M. Tierney, Sr., chief executive officer of Abington Bank, a division of North Shore Bank, announced that the bank’s Neighbors Helping Neighbors campaign raised $39,000 for the 13 local food pantries that participated in the fourth annual fundraising drive.

The Neighbors Helping Neighbors appeal is part of the bank’s charitable giving program, The Giving Tree, which reflects the bank’s commitment to making a difference in the neighborhoods it serves. Throughout November, the bank invited customers, employees, and members of the community to donate at Abington Bank, a division of North Shore Bank, branches. All donations received were matched, dollar for dollar, by the bank and the total divided among food pantries in South Shore and South Coast communities the bank serves. This brings the program’s four-year total to $163,650.

Each of these participating food pantries received $3,000:

  • Aunt Dot’s Kitchen Food Pantry, Hull
  • Avon Food Pantry
  • Canton Food Pantry
  • The Charity Guild, Brockton
  • Cohasset Food Pantry
  • Food Pantry Foundation, Stoughton
  • Friendly Food Pantry, Randolph
  • Holbrook Food Pantry, Inc.
  • Interfaith Social Services, Quincy
  • Scituate Food Pantry
  • South Shore YMCA Food Pantry, Quincy
  • St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry, Abington
  • YMCA Southcoast’s The Full Plate Project, Wareham

“On behalf of Abington Bank, a division of North Shore Bank, I’d like to thank all those who generously donated to our Neighbors Helping Neighbors fundraiser to help fight food insecurity in our communities,” said Tierney. “We’re pleased to host this annual appeal and that so much was raised to help families this past holiday season and into the new year.”
